We are a group of people who have received God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ. We are a people who love the Lord because He first loved us and have experienced His love in our lives. We are meeting together to worship Him and encourage each other to know Him more. We desire to make His grace and love known to others so that they too might share in the joy that we have discovered in Jesus Christ.

It’s about a Baptist church in a place called Strathaven. A place to discover the grace of God through Jesus Christ. A place where you will be welcomed.

OUR BACKGROUND
Founded in 1870, Strathaven is an evangelical Baptist church that began asĀ  a mission of the Canadian Baptists of Ontario and Quebec (CBOQ). Our current church building was built in 1900 and has served the church well for many years. Recently we have discontinued our affiliation with the CBOQ and presently we remain independent.

OUR LOCATION
The church campus straddles the corner of Strathaven Road and Baptist Lane in the historical pioneer settlement of Strathaven, located in the heart of the beautiful Queen’s Bush Valley just a few kilometers south-east of Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada.

OUR PEOPLE
When you come to Strathaven you’ll find a warm and caring group of people who come from various walks of life. Some of us have roots that go deep into our community while others are quite new to the area. We enjoy worshiping God together and spending time in fellowship to mutually encourage each other.

OUR VISION
To make known to all the good news of eternal life and forgiveness of sin through God’s grace in Jesus Christ our Lord. It is our vision to see the Lord build His church here in Strathaven. We will strive, with God’s help, to make His word known, to build significant relationships, and mutually build our faith. We make an effort to blend the traditional and contemporary in worship, thereby providing a place for people of all ages to worship and know God with us.

OUR MISSION
Our Mission is to obey our Lord’s command in Matthew 28:18 – 20 – “to make disciples of all nations.” We are actively looking for opportunities to make Jesus known locally, nationally, and internationally. Through proclaiming God’s word, worship, outreach, prayer, service, fellowship, and caring, we seek to lead others into a personal walk of faith in and with the Lord Jesus Christ.

OUR FACILITIES
The main church building is an historic brick and stone structure erected in 1900. It features a somewhat traditional sanctuary upstairs furnished with wooden pews mounted on a sloping wood and carpet floor, and a modern kitchen and fellowship room downstairs. “The Haven”, a new wheelchair accessible multi-use annex located beside the church, provides space for educational and administrative activities and serves as a community meeting place. The church campus also includes a manse, memorial parkette, playing field and an extensive community garden.

OUR STAFF
Andrew Versteeg serves as our Pastor and teacher. Andrew has been called to lead the church in teaching the Scriptures, providing pastoral care, and giving direction to the various ministries of the church.
